Loved your darling story !
In most cases mice are just annoying. But, mice, rats, bats, squirrels and other rodents can carry and spread diseases. I doubt a mouse would have rabies. If your dog was bitten, I think the Vet would treat it like any other fight inflicted bite.
Rodent droppings can be dangerous for not only pets but, people. Not too long ago on a Native American reservation doctors were baffled by a new peumonia that filled the lungs with pus, blood and fluid. And antibiotics has little affect. People died and quickly too. Finally they discovered it was from rodent droppings.
The urine from rats can contaminate stored grains and cause mold, sickness and disease. Most of us know the fleas on rats caused millions to die from the Black death, plague. Sadly even the cute little Prairie Dogs and Meerkats can carry deadly diseases. So in summation get rid of the vermin ASAP and stay healthy.
