Can you put blocks of wood or small cardboard boxes or something under the recliner to block his access and then when you find him trying to get under it, say "uh oh" and give him a treat-stuffed kong toy to play with? Or toss a squeaky toy across the floor? I'd keep him blocked from accessing the underside of the recliner and give him something to keep his mind active playing with. Tibbe loves to bat around and chew on a small diet coke bottle in an old sock, sometimes with a few pieces of kibble stuck in it.
