How awful...I'm so sorry to hear this.
But, yes, their love is so unconditional and amazing. My babies have always been there for me through the toughest times and never got annoyed over my constant crying and ranting. And they give great advice too.
I hope that this is a quick process for your family so they can begin to heal.
