To a groomer, a puppy cut just means "one length all over" and you determine the length. Of you do decide to take him for a hair cut, be specific as to how long you want his hair and what you'd like his face and ears to look like.
Personally, I love the longer hair on yorkies. But, I also think some of the shorter cuts are cute too.
