We did a very long road trip last year with Jack from Ohio to Florida - whenever we would stop for potty breaks and to change drivers or just refresh, we would walk him around in the grass and let him go there. He is also pee pad trained but since our trip, he seems to prefer going potty outside - having him do both is a win-win for us! As long as your up to date with your flea and heartworm meds, there should be no worries of picking up any of those nasty little critters.
