I almost killed an entire litter of 8 - 10 week old babies, feeding them raw....cant remember what the brand was, but the vet sold it, it was frozen, and it cam in medallions or burger size helpings. The babies LOVED it, but it gave everyone of them a roaring gastritis....vet said they could not handle the bacteria that built up in their intestines, expecially from the chicken....they were too young and did not have the intestinal flora to keep from getting overwhelmed with bacteria......Needless to say, THAT was the end of my experimenting with raw meat dog food! Valentino is older than my babies were, but it just scares me......and I would suspect it may have had something to do with this bout of gastritis he is experiencing......especially since you noticed the tummy rumblings and hyper gastric activity after feeding it! |
