I've been reading about the Biewers & partis & read the Snow Blue website as well. This whole thing sounds alot like the deal with Cocker Spaniels. It was quite a while before the AKC accepted parti cockers. Now there are 3 categories, but they are ALL still cockers.
Same thing here. They are all yorkies, period. This Biewer fellow wanted AKC recognition for a color variation, they didn't want to do it, therefore he went down the road of trying to market them as a new breed, which they really aren't. Maybe at some time down the road this whole tri-color acceptance thing will develop to the point where the cocker spaniel is now as far as the AKC is concerned. Seems like the biggest problem is the lack of genetic variation withing the strictly Biewer lines and the need to breed out to standard yorkies to keep the health factors sound. Those that insist on breeding Biewer to Biewer are risking more health issues.
Or at least that's how i read it.
