I am on a lot of pet fashion and pet designer facebook pages and the stuff I see is amazing, some of it is even being made in Europe. I see people willing to make dresses in the $12.00 to $20.00 range and those that can sell dresses into the $100's and way above that for very special things. To me the styles don't vary that much it's the fabric and what you do with the trim that will set you apart. Are you an accomplished seamstress, do you have a good eye for color and contrast. Are you acquainted with sewing on velvet, satin, silk, brocade and sheers, are you good with ribbons, bows, and trim, if so I would say aim high and be what they call a "pet designer". LOL if I could sew better I would be a high end designer because I have a lot of good ideas and understand color, but I am lacking in sewing skills. So I pay people to sew for me and then drive them crazy since I micro manage everything including what color thread they should use. A lot of people don't realize that an upper end of "canine couture" exists, I think it is funny and get a kick out of how some people are very serious about it. Some of the events I go to is all about what designer your dog is wearing. Lola so far only wears dresses that I had regular folk sew for me, LOL I try to avoid those folk. So I decided I will create my own brand, it's called Lola Rose One of a Kind, I just had labels made and will use them on whatever is sewn for me. I don't plan on selling anything.

A big fashion week is approaching, in early Feb the 4 days leading up to the Westminster Dog show is NYC pet fashion week. There will be about 5 events consisting of fashion shows and contests. Since I am from NY I planning on going home for a visit and attending about 4 events. Currently I am searching for the perfect flapper dress for Lola and my sister's yorkie, The Roaring 20's is one of the themes. One of the gals that I know though all this fashion stuff owns a yorkie named Millie LaRue, she is famous in this crazy word of canine couture, designers line up to have her wear their stuff, just check out Millie LaRue on FB she has a photo journal going called 365 days of Millie's closet each day she has on a different expensive outfit. In the fall of last year she spent a few weeks in Paris being photographed and meeting with designers, did you know there is a Paw Vogue, it's on Facebook and they have an event geared around meeting the designers, I will be going to that as well. I love to look at the stuff but will not pay designer prices, but heck I am not opposed to a good knock off Good luck with what ever you decide and feel free to run any ideas by me if you like
well i want to be one of those very serious about it. i found red fringe on sale at walmart. not the color i would use but i thought of you.
