I have a very good groomer. It took me a while to find the right one. Bad experiences with groomers seem to abound. All the more reason to stay with your pet like the OP did.

Gracie has a long coat so it is not difficult to trim her myself. I do take her monthly to get her nails trimmed. She does go to the groomer about every 3 or 4 months to get her all evened out and looking sharp.

People with puppies need to groom from day one even if they intend to use a groomer. You don't want your puppy to be held down by a groomer because it is not used to being combed and bathed. A dog will fight a groomer if they are afraid and that is how major injuries happen.
