Go to cheaper movie houses where it is less $ and you won't feel so cheated? Or complain to movie stars who make $20 - $40 million to do a movie. Wow, it is getting expensive to see a movie, no doubt in large part due to their outlandish salaries! The movie houses have to pay so very much to even get to show a movie and provide big screens with wonderful sound and food service, employ staff to make it all work with work. comp., insurance, vacation, sick pay benefits, salaries, not to mention the immense rent, liability insurance & taxes, all in order for their building to be conveniently placed with a lot of easy parking, their overhead must be absolutely huge. And I imagine if they really charged a ticket to a movie to cover all their overhead, we'd all stay home! But if they portion the cost out to tickets AND food, drink, games in the lobby, etc., it won't seem so bad. There is no rule we have to eat or drink at a movie and I rarely do eat. Usually I just get a Diet Coke - and put a packet of sugar over the ice! I hate it but until the top stars start to charge less for their services, I guess it will keep trickling down to you and me, who line up & pay through the nose. Or get Netflix!
