Absolutely...so are Labs, and some other breeds.
The neighbor's Collie loved being around us kids so much that when we moved, he fell into a deep depression and they asked us to please take him since he refused to eat or drink or socialize with them. We did, he bounced right back and regained all the weight he'd lost, and when my little sister grew up a bit, she rode him, too. My children's aunt rode their Shepherd as well when she was young.
