I want to share a caution my vet gave me about using Pawz boots (or similiar completely plastic/rubber boots), after I first bought ZoE some last winter.

He said they are fine for short term use, where you salt the walkways outside, yet your dog needs to walk on them to get out to go potty, but he doesn't recommend them for long-term use in extremely cold temperatures. He said dogs sweat through their paws, and the rubber holds the sweat in & it freezes, making the dogs paw colder than it would be without them. And that for long outings in very cold temperatures, you're are better with a boot with a lining that wicks moisture away from the paw pads.
