I feel confident, that in the vast majority of times, even with some animals having strong personalities, that strictly following the Rules will provide security for the Residents positions. In fact, I'm dealing with much the same issue right now.
You are aware that I have recently added Ichabod to the Pack. And, he is one little terror. But, I am sure that My Male Sneakers (with appropriate support) will have absolutely no problem maintaining his Alpha status.
Most have a great deal of trouble, placing the new guy on the bottom of the Totem, but, it's got to happen that way, IF you really want to maintain the balance of the Pack, and in my experience, doing that with a Puppy, makes the months and years ahead, a lot easier. | After a year of trying to settle domination issues I surrendered and gave the younger one to my mother. The pup lived a very pampered life as an only dog. Will be really interested in hearing how it goes with your youngest over the months ahead. Maybe I will get up the nerve to try again. |
