Thankfully Elvis takes his pills in cheese and now just straight readily.
Scoobers is awful though!
He will nearly swallow it then work the pill out if anything and spit it out.
Literally we tried everything! Its brutal but the vet has everything made into liquid for us now and I have learned to hook my fingers around his k-9 teeth hold his neck up and use a needless syringe to drop it in.
Even this was hard at first because sometimes he spits the liquid back at me-who knew a dog could hold their breath in a calculated manner? But this way at least I can measure what he does intake and make sure he gets his dosage.
Scoobers now knows he gets actual good treats if he takes his meds, this has helped immensely.
Poor guy has been on more meds in the last few years than any dog with no chronic condition ever should be!
Elvis takes multiple meds several times a day-I imagine it being so routine helped the most with him just taking a pill right from my hand plain. |
