Well, of course we love our Yorkies but they are not for everyone. They are terriers and have a very tenacious personality. They were originally bred to kill rodents in small areas.

There are a variety of ideas about Yorkies around small children. Personally, I would avoid having small children around a Yorkie. Because of their small size they can easily get hurt by a young child dropping it or falling on it, etc. Do you know approximately the size this Yorkie would be when it matures? Some breeders do have larger Yorkies that may be safer around a child. Any puppy needs protection from a young one. They just don't know how to be gentle and have to be constantly supervised.

There is a lot of info on this site about Yorkies. There is a library section. Maybe find a good book about the breed. Are you going to be able to bring this dog home with you? I know many countries require a quarantine time for a dog to be allowed in. Are military people exempt?
