My husband had always said he would never have an inside dog because keeping them inside was cruel. He said he wouldn't have an outside dog because we don't live on acreage. This has been what he has said for 32 years of his life - 26 years with his first wife and now 4 with me.
I had to beg to get Carter at Christmas. I made him realize that I don't ask for much and that this was something that I really wanted. He gave in on Christmas Eve and we picked up Carter on Christmas Day - drove through sleet and snow to get him (in south Louisiana it rarely snows - maybe that is why we had the weather -- Ed gave in!).
Ed absolutely LOVES Carter. He is the one that wants to take him everywhere with us. He's the one that picks him up and puts him in the bed with us at night. I don't believe he ever thought he could love an animal the way he does Carter.
