Mental illness isn't a cop out or something used only for 'blame'; rather, it can/may help *explain* aspects of why something happened the way it did. It's not an excuse, its not a way to justify - it's just part of the explanation.

This website has a long list of incidents, along with the drug the perpetrator was using. The site makes a case of correlation between the use of anti-depressants and aberrant behavior. Acknowledging that correlation does not necessarily equal causation, it is nonetheless interesting to see the volume of info these people have compiled.
