When we first got Uni, we had the intentions of breeding her (not a secret by now). The day after we got her, we went to a family that had yorkie puppies for sale. They were about 15 weeks old and they were pretty big already (running up and down the stairs no problem). They said they bred the dogs not for the money but bc they loved the breed. They lived in the house and were well taken care of. However, they were asking $1500 each pup. the mom was totally golden (off standard) and we couldn't meet the dad bc he bites (aggression passed on). We ended up not taking any of those, but these are the type of people who say they love the breed (and I'm sure they do) but are not doing the breed any good. People who breed for off colors, dark coats, short noses, short legs. these traits are not what is the yorkie standard, and people that look for those traits are perpetuating more bybs to produce this type of dog.

Just wanted to say we didn't look for a dark coat in Kyra it just so happens she has stayed dark. I do happen to love the way she looks, but then again I would love her if she were green lol.
