Yes my dog was diagnosed with early kidney disease. She already was on an appropriate diet that only needed a minor change. She was placed on two medications aspirin and benazypril. She had a dental last year and just had one two weeks ago. I did go to a speciality dental vet clinic here but I can tell you that she had a standard anesthetic protocol with fluids run during the procedure to support her. My dog is 12 and they routinely treat dogs for dentals who are much more fragile than my dog and much older. I think if I were you I would clean the teeth, however, if I had access to a specialty veterinary dentist that is where I would go with a high risk dog because that is all they do all day long. If you don't have that option, but your vet feels the procedure would be safe, I would still do it.
