I was also wondering about what a "severe protein deficiency" is as well. I was so upset to read her owner's last update. I can't imagine having to see such a sweet little darling pass like that. She was just an adorable little dog....and so smart! I guess I'll have to look into protein deficiencies and see how that happens. Since she was also severely anemic it is really hard for someone else to try to understand. Obviously she was having some sort of catastrophic shut down of her body systems but not knowing all the details it is hard to know why. It's just very tragic. I'm sure her owner is just trying to cope at this point.
