Any time my daughters and I go by the "pet store" in the mall where they sell puppies we have discussions about "those poor babies from puppy mills" and tell everyone that they shouldn't buy their pet from there and that they could wait a few weeks and adopt the same baby from a shelter. We tell them that if people stop feeling so bad for these dogs and buying them "just to get them out of there" that it will help shut down the stores and the puppy mills that provide for them. By the way, my daughters are only 3, 5, and 7. I taught them long ago the mantra of "adopt, don't shop." |
