| Went To Petland Today I went to Petland today and they had two yorkies for sale. One was a female and the other was a male. The male just came in today and was 8 weeks old. The female was about 10 weeks old and I felt so sorry for these little ones. I asked what the price was on the female and it was a little over $1800.00 dollars. I gave the girl a lecture on these pups coming in from the idiot breeder at 8 weeks old. I told her they were too young and needed to stay with the breeder longer. I also told her they did not look too healthy and the price was crazy. She said these dogs are USDA approved and from good breeders. If I bought one I get the breeders name and five generations on the papers. Also they sell them without a spay or neuter agreement which makes me wonder why we have more puppy mills. My husband had to get me out of there before I blew at the manager. Cages were filty with poop and pee under a grating they were on. How awful. |

| I truly detest pet shops, the money-mad jerks who own them, the greeders who sell puppies to them and the clueless people who work in them, sell a dog to anybody with the money and feel sorry for the true victims who buy the poor dogs from them. Of course not all buyers are victims - they know what's going on and still buy from them - some because they want to get one of those sad dogs out of there even if it means supporting the horrible practice and some because it's just so convenient to run to the mall for a new dog. I haven't been in a pet shop that sells dogs in more years than I can say. Once I found out the truth about puppymills and the kind of greeder that sells hapless little puppies to pet shops and willingly accepts whatever fate awaits them there, I no longer patronized them for any reason. And I can no longer stand to see the poor, woeful little things on display in their cages, passed around to one and all interested customers all day and evening, 7 days a week, trying so hard to make the best of their situation, just dying to get out of there.

| I do not want to think of it it makes me sick. The poor parents having to live in awful conditions is so sad. I am looking at my little Kinder right now and glad she is in a secure loving home. She is in her Woolrich blanket with all four feet up. I hope these puppies get a wonderful home .Anyways I am glad I voiced my opinion to the girl today and I think she learned something. |

| This is such a foreign concept to me...purchasing other than small reptiles, birds and fish from pet stores. We don't have anything like that in my area. I know that they're out there (and I've heard of it in Southern California) but I've never seen a pet store that sells dogs or cats...only adoptions from rescues. To be honest, the only time I've seen it was on the streets of Barcelona! I feel so bad for those babies.

| There's a store in my local mall called The Puppy Store. It is SO sad. Last time I went in there (I go sometimes to give the coworkers dirty looks and to watch for obvious signs of neglect and abuse I can report) there was a puppy who was literally dying in its cage...they let people hold them all the time and don't even make you sanitize your hands, I never see food in the cages, just pee and poop and puppies sleeping in their tiny crates because they're probably being starved so they'll stay tiny. Disgusting. I can't go in there anymore, I literally break down and cry or I start yelling at the employees who are trained to lie about the puppy ages and health status.

I don't think i've ever seen a pet store around here that sells puppies, there was this small pet store that did, but thankfully they closed down a long time ago, and even then they were taken care of Last edited by ilovejoel; 11-30-2012 at 09:52 PM. | |

| She's lucky it was you & not me as I may have slapped her for standing there lying to my face. She KNOWS those pups don't come from good breeders & yet she tells people the same story each time someone inquires about any pup they have for sale. AND WTH is with the USDA cr@p, is it a yorkie or a side of beef People who work in those places have absolutely NO morals. |

| There are two malls near me and they both have pet shops like that. The one has had many different owners of the store. When one goes out of business they are sure to get someone else in there quick. It is located right near one of the main entrances and I'm sure they feel it brings in more customers because people love to look at the cute puppies, kittens and other small animals. It is truly one of the saddest places there are if you really look at what is happening there. They always say their puppies come from "good breeders." What a lie! What good breeder would pack off their puppies before they are properly weaned and have them trucked to the other side of the state or country to be sold to who know who?? Many of the poor creatures end up in shelters if they do not sell quickly. Many end up in shelters or being passed from owner to owner anyway because they have so many problems. Many die in transit or after they arrive due to dehydration, hypoglycemia, or a variety of illness they have contracted at the filthy mills they come from. All the while the puppy's parents sit in their tiny filthy cages producing more babies to be turned out again in a few weeks. If people would take the time to research the dog breeding industry they would find they can buy a beautiful healthy puppy from a reputable breeder for less than what they would pay at a pet shop or some online con person they find in their google searches. Of course you can't get that really great 21% interest rate on the payment plan that the pet shop offers. |

| Any time my daughters and I go by the "pet store" in the mall where they sell puppies we have discussions about "those poor babies from puppy mills" and tell everyone that they shouldn't buy their pet from there and that they could wait a few weeks and adopt the same baby from a shelter. We tell them that if people stop feeling so bad for these dogs and buying them "just to get them out of there" that it will help shut down the stores and the puppy mills that provide for them. By the way, my daughters are only 3, 5, and 7. I taught them long ago the mantra of "adopt, don't shop." |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I had a chance to buy a "TEA CUP" puppy on thursday I went shopping at the Outlets in PA and passed a puppy store i had to stop, the girl was nice and TINY, the girl employee, told me that she was AKC registered , she would only be 4 pounds as an adult and GREAT for breeding little puppies, I gave her the third degree about not breeding little ones, I asked for her Medical history and she said is only given after you purchase the pup.. I walked away so sad and dissapointed that now the BREEDING tinies is part of the sales pitch.. so sad.. hugs, |

| I live purposely in denial because I can't bear thinking or looking at an animal in that situation...I just avoid and ignore or I'd go absolutely bonkers. I would also like to know what is up with the USDA thing? Aren't puppy mills illegal? So, then, why are some given some sort of "approval" by a government department??
