CT is done to visualize soft tissue detail. If bone were present, they might want to see detail to see what the bone did to soft tissue, if they can see a tear/tears or a tumor or any number of things they are looking for. With a dog that ill, I would imagine they have to look for all causes of severe anemia, not just the first thing that might come to light. It can show the state of organs and if there are tears or ruptures in them. Even if she had a bone in her GI tract, it may not be tearing anything.
