Both liver shunt and microvascular dysplasia (microscopic shunting) can be asymptomatic. There is a symptom now with the bladder. Although any lver functioning issue can make bile acids rise, significant increases in yorkies usually do mean ls/mvd. Your vet is on the righttrack. Drugs can raise numbers, but thy should not be very high from drugs alone unlessthere is an underlying problem.
aanyway, my girl does not have any neuro symptoms, no shuntseen on ultrasound, but does have UTIs fairly often. Her bile acids are very high at ties. The internist wasn't too concerned after ultrasound except or watching drugs and food given. They will be able to walk ou through it. Although I absolutely woudn't use the current food, Iwouldn't invest in too much of anything else until you talk to the is/surgeon. ?they may (or may not) decide in an rx diet.
