If you are close to your family, I wouldn't move too far away if I could help it so it won't be so expensive to visit for holidays, weddings, sickness. You could check on the nearest states with no State income tax and lower living expenses, housing, etc. on Google. Perhaps a real estate agent or rental agent could help you find a cheaper place to live.
