Animal Smiley 019 Newbie question or two.

I am new to this forum and relatively new to yorkies. I have an older female whom I rescued from the pound (with three puppies, chorkies.) She is a silvery blue color and beautiful. I am trying to let her hair grow out (was almost shaved due to mats) and it refuses to straighten out. It is very curly. I blow dry her and within an hour or so, back curly again. Also...how do you keep their faces clean? Annie's hair is very thick around her muzzle and head. Even when she drink water it gets nasty.

Next is Buddy. I got him four days ago. He is 9 months old and registered. He has wirey hair that has mixed colors on his back. There are some black, silver and red orange. I read the post on determining puppies hair but I guess I didn't understand it fully. He came from a puppy mill because he was too big to use as a stud (about 6 pounds.) He is very scared and shakes constantly. He loves Annie and stays by her all the time but runs from me. I take it he has not been socialized much.
