I think (or hope) that most people use a wet cloth around the eyes and nose. It takes longer but it is much better than getting water in the nose.
I use a special dog sprayer that has 3 spray strengths. It hooks to my kitchen faucet. It comes in very handy for the body, however, I do use the weakest spray to rinse out the longer parts of her mustache. It does not get in her eyes or nose because the water runs quite slowly and quietly. But Gracie is quite an experienced bather and it does not bother her a bit.
