I have another suggestion. Are you familiar with the brand Celltei? It's pricey, but well-made pet carriers. In this link, there are TWO kangeroo pouches (the one towards the bottom of the page is their basic pouch with a lower price point):

BTW, I have their classic pak-o-pet for our normal outings. I think the quality of their carriers are pretty good (though I made some personal alterations on the carrier to suit my needs).

When our Outward Hound kangaroo pouch wears out, I'm going to look into the Celltei pouches to replace it.
