In my case Uni was sold to me w a chip already implanted, so there was no choice for me. But yes I was told about the update fee when I finally did register her. At that point, what can u do? Say no thanks I'll go w another company? The chip was already implanted before I bought her. I guess they are counting on people saying, oh its just $6. Extra money for them. But I don't see how someone going in the database and changing a phone number or something can be $6 worth of manhours.
