If he were going to be placed in a Furever home as a single Pet, one would certainly want to wait another month, where his socialization process would have matured. However, in this case, he is being placed into an established Pack, with dogs of various ages. I consider this the only acceptable reason, for moving an Animal at this early age. Sneakers, Becca and Ichabod have a common Sire and Dame. This couple has a history for birthing pups, which mature to weights greater than Standard. Sneakers, at Four years old now, weighs just over 13 Lbs. Becca is a very robust Female, and at her age of Two, weighs just over 8 Lbs. However, given Ickey’s present weight and frame, I am anticipating a lesser mature weight than his older Male Sibling, but, still expect his Application to the YT Teapot Club to be forthcoming. I can already tell he’s going to be a little Terror… He’s quite strong willed, plays vigorously with the Toys, and chases his sister Becca (4x his size) around the yard. Sneakers is presenting his “Hay kid, remember I’m the Alpha around here” attitude, but I’m sure will warm up to Ickey before long. Our Breeder has taken care of the preliminary inoculations, Tail Docking, and Ickey is scheduled for his introductory visit to our regular Vet on Thursday, for a Wellness Exam and Microchip. When making the appointment, I could visualize the smile on our Vet’s face, when he herd I had gotten another Dog. $ $ | Congrats on the new pup, certainly is gorgeous! I would just like to reiterate an important fact...regardless of the circumstances 8 weeks is still too soon to remove a pup from its mother, one would think that the benefits and possible risks would compel one to keep the pup with its mother until an appropriate and most beneficial age...additionally, the flight, regardless of hand delivery, across the country was a huge risk for such a young and small pup, IMHO. The pack as a whole would have been best suited to be introduced to a pup whom was steady, tempered and somewhat more socialized rather than a small "stranger" pup who is so fragile, again IMHO.
Regardless, he is a sweetie and I honestly wish you much luck and a life of love with this little guy! I do so love his name!
