There are just some dog's that no matter how hard you try, you may not be able to brush their teeth at all. Even with brushing their teeth a Dental would still be recommended at times as there is no way to get up under the gum and get that plaque out. That is what causes the problems.
Also, some Yorkies are just more prone to dental issues due to genetics.

Just as with people, even though I brush and floss at least 3-4 times a day, I still need the professional cleaning to get up under the gum.
