For those of you who are following along, I wanted to give a quick update on Sam. We went to the pediatrician today and she was very supportive and encouraging as she always is. When she found out we still hadn't heard from the neurosurgeon, she went into her office, got them on the phone and called me in to talk with the lady to get his appointment scheduled. While doing this my awesome pediatrician was down on her knees (in a skirt) crawling around her office and playing football with Sam

! I honestly can't tell you which of them had the most fun! The young lady on the phone was laughing at the two of them and said she has got to meet Mr. Samuel (he draws everyone in somehow). All that said he will go to The neurosurgeon next Wednesday. We will sit down and see what she thinks, she is suspossed to be good and is the surgeon who has operated on other Chiari children in this area.
This was the pediatrician's first time seeing him since the diagnosis and she said Samuel is doing well, he's holding his weight steady with pedia sure, continue with OT and speech. She said we won't rush into anything, we will take this slow and do what's BEST for SAMUEL. We will be adding a nutritionist to this as well, so that we can look at other ways of getting things that he needs into his body, through juices, shakes, smoothies etc.
We also think the Previcid is helping his little tummy because he's still eating pineapples, not as much as he did the first day, but a few bites periodically and it's very small steps, but we will take it.
One last thing, because Sammie has sensory issues he perceives pain differently and his body over reacts to it. She said this will have to be taken into account also when we decide if surgery is BEST for SAM.
Thank you all for your continued support and prayers.
