I agree that there can be differences in how cold a dog gets but keep in mind that Yorkies do not have an insulating under coat that many breeds have. I never put clothing on a dog until I got Gracie. When she was a puppy I noticed she was always in my lap or laying on me or against me. As soon as I would sit down there she was! Then I noticed that when I was busy doing things she would go and wrap herself around one of the cats that was taking a nap. She was constantly trying to get heat from someone's body.

Now she has pajamas, sweaters and coats. She also has socks to keep her feet warm when the floors get chilly. She still enjoys my heating pad and the electric throw that I put on the bed for her when she is cold. She prefers to get under the covers with me in the middle of the night though.

My Shih Tzu never needed a coat or sweater he had a thick coat that was more than adequate to keep him warm. Yorkies have an entirely different type of coat though.
