as long as they show proof that a dog of that description was sold to them and registered to by JOE SMOE , with their name and address printed on, is proof of ownership. And the same way we register the chips on the dogs proof they are ours...

Yeah, but you don't really know why the judge gave the dog back, I really doubt it simply because they registered with APRI, and that is the registry that offers free registration to commercial breeders, I hope no pet owner gives them any money at all. Pictures, vet records, registration with county and rabies vaccine all would give you more proof. If we give these paper registries money, we are supporting and approving of them.
