Mine are 8 and I wouldnt do it because I wouldnt want to take the chance of upsetting my dogs I have 2 and they can already be competitive for attention so I know I wont be getting another one untill they pass on. I think it's important that an older dog can get away from the puppy, if it's annoying it. Joey's breeder thought that 7 was the perfect age to add a puppy as a playmate, they can help bring back the youth and playfulness to the older dog.

Also, I think the mistake many make is reprimanding the older dog, when the puppy is the one with razor sharp teeth and can usually take care of itself.
