I saw a survey done by the Associated Press that said 62% of the polled people would only spend $500 for a pets health emergency, I was shocked by that number. Fewer than half said they would spend $1000, and only 1/3 would spend $2000. I think a lot of people would spend the money to save their pet, I believe the problem is it's just not available to them. Do you know when this survey was done? About 10 yrs or more ago I believe it was the AVMA that did a survey, and at that time it was $300 or so dollars.
I was so shocked when I read the numbers. No wonder we have so many pets in shelters!
Judging by the APsurvey, I can't believe everyone "can't afford" more than $500 or $1000, but there is probably a large majority that don't believe in spending more than "X" for their health care. I think I shall be changing my questionnaire!
Maybe vets should promote more getting pet insurance to their clients!
