But when I weighed her at the vet she hadn't put on any weight in two weeks (six stools a day..I wonder why) So my vet said no to rabies just yet and just did her other shots & started her on flagyl. Which she is still on & will finish on Mon next week. From the next day her stools stablised to two a day & by Fri she had put on 100gms. But yesterday I made her chicken with a little rice & she ate it greedily. I had some food made for her (a/d soft diet) which she wouldn't eat so I offered it to our older dog & little Hollee dived for that too! then she did that again today and seemes to have doubled her size. Now she is walking around with a humped back and tail down and just wanting to curl up and sleep. I phoned our emergency vet just now & she said she is feeling uncomfortable from over eating & cramps from the rice..Oh dear..the vet said to syringe a/d diet into her (2mls) which I did and am waiting for a while. I will give her another 2mls later depending on how she reacts as she hasnt had a good meal since lunch time & just bits since then. Any help on this would be so appriciated. Ax
Hi, I do not check YT very day and missed your question, but all you describe makes sense after the flagyl... As you could see she needed it. How is she doing today? Rice will cause constipation now with the more normal GI working more efficiently. That may be the reason she is a little down and depressed. A/d will not harm her and my advise is to keep her on a/d and dry kibble a only. Stop the other home made recipes if she is eating these 2 foods. A/d alone is enough to keep up a puppy until it can transition back to dry kibble only.
Let us know any updates, e-mail me when you see this answer, I will send it to you as a private message . But you saw great sign of her turning. It will get better.
Xoxo
