Oh, bless her heart! Our baby of 6.5 wo had Coccidia when we got her (alongwith tape worm [even though I mistakenly said hookworm in my previous post. See"New Baby and My Tale/Tail of Woe". Fortunately, she was able torecover quickly. We also used the Nutri-Cal and put a little bit of honey inher water (even though she doesn't drink much). We stir it a little to let her know it's there (since it isn't that easy to see). Our little girl likes the Cesar Puppy with Chicken and Beef and we mash itup with a fork to make it as easy to eat as possible. (Sometimes my husbandwill hand feed her a little to whet her appetite.) She doesn't like her fooddish and I've ordered her one that has a dipped side. You might consider areally shallow dish so it's less intimidating. We also leave a little Royal Canin dry for Yorkshire Puppies near her crateso she can eat when she wants. It's probably fostering bad habits, but itseemed more important to make sure she is getting good nutrition to recover. Iteven serves as a good training snacks as it's very small and evidently quitetasty (although I don't know that first hand ). My darling Leesi is doing very well now and for the last few weeks she has been gaining 3 to 3.5 oz. per week. That may not sound like much, but considering she only weight 6 oz. when I got her, it's a huge percentage! May I ask where you got your baby? She's a little younger than Leesi (who is 11.5 weeks now) or I'd think theycame from the same litter! The folks here have been incredibly helpful and are far more knowledgable than I, soI'm sure you will get solid recommendations from the veterans soon. I justwanted you to know you are not alone. |
