But, I think Yorkies need individual attention, just like you and I do. It is great to be part of a family but, we all need some one on one time. After years of training all kinds of dogs, We devloped a training method especialy for small dogs.
Most of you know, Now I only train puppies and small breed dogs (toy sized) . We never use collars on them as a training tool. I am sorry the trainer you had, was so out of touch with the newer methods. You did the right thing by choosing a gentle, patient, reward based style of teaching.
Here are some very good training books: 1000 Best Dog Training Secrets by Robyn Achey, Dog Dilemmas by Gary R. Sampson DVM and Dog Perfect by Sarah Hodgson | great, thank you for the list of books, I'm going to look into it! |
