I have had both a yorkie and a maltese. I had the maltese years ago and I don't know if it was just that particulat dog but Icould not get close to him. and he hiked his leg EVERY WHERE. he was always dirty and he smelled. it was very hard to keep him clean. My yorkie I have now does have accidents but not all the time. and I am so close to her I could never give her up. so through my experience I would go with a yorkie.
