I would definitely recommend getting the pre-op bloodwork done to make sure he's healthy enough to go under.

Expect him to be groggy when you pick him up from the vet. Try to restrict his movement and keep him calm. He will probably just sleep for the rest of the day. Monitor his pain levels and make sure to get pain meds from the vet. The next day, expect him to try to do more than he should You are going to have to try and keep him calm for a couple days and make sure he doesn't lick his incision.

Other than that, I'm sure he will do great. Before you know it, he will be back to his regular ol' self
