I use a Celltie Tote-O-Pet, which is airline approved. They have a place on the back, that you can order & use the optional seatbelt, and strap it into the back seat of your car.

You can have it sitting right on the car seat, or you can loop the carry handles around the headrest, if your baby likes to look out the window.

I have a Lavendar Tote-O-Pet, (they don't make that color anymore, but they do have other colors), and I have a black back-pack-o-pet, the back pack straps come off, and it has a shoulder strap, as well.

They're great carriers.
