I don't give my dogs time out. If one is all hyped up and being bad, we try to hold them tight and get them to slow their breathing down by taking slow and steady breaths. Everyone has their own way of doing things so this might work for the OP and her little Joel. His eyes look like their saying, "Mommy, I promise to be good. Can I comes out?" haha
