I don't know if there's a cure for howling but I do live in a Apt. that has 2 other tenants in the bldg. and have wondered if Yazmin barks while I'm away. I've asked the other tenants several times if they hear her and they've assured me they don't hear a sound.
I've also left a voice activated recorder on in the past and only heard her barking at the TV. She watches Animal Planet while I'm gone and especially enjoys the Dog Whisperer! She loves barking at the dogs on the screen!
In the meantime, I've recently found this app through iTunes that's great for watching her while I'm at work.

Basically after all my worrying whether she's either barking, crying, or lonely all day, I see she spends most of her day napping!
Maybe for your own peace of mind, you could see if Miss Mia is howling all day by trying either a voice activated recorder or the app.
She would probably enjoy some action on TV also to keep her occupied between her naps.
