I tried it and it worked, staying twisted throughout brewing. Just worried it didn't distribute the water evenly over the grounds like it does when they are all spread out but maybe if I can find taller filters, that will be less of a problem. But if I can't taste any difference in the next few days of doing this, who cares if the grounds are spread out!
