Maggie is 10 pounds, so no carrier for her
She goes to Lowes and Depot. She has been to Marshalls and Big Lots and nobody said anything. I stick a towel in the shopping cart and in she goes. Only short trips though. She also went in bed bath and beyond once because it was next to Petco and it was too hot to leave her in the car.
Funny thing is, before I was a "dog person" I would have not liked dogs being in shopping carts even in non-food stores, so I do respect anybody who says it is not okay for her to be there.
