I have a 'disappearing screen' that slides over the open door, and is made of heavy plastic screen door material in a solid frame. We find it useful to keep bugs out in the summer and dog in at any time. It works well and is a great barrier. Only problem it is quite expensive. My 9 pound yorkie usually will not cross over the open door, but I am sure if he was attracted to something he may!
