Default Ears

I agree with posters who suggest a vet visit. My dog was off his food and also scratching ears. No smelly ears though. I took him to the vet who diagnosed a yeast infection. The vet flushed out the ears and gave anti fungal drops. As soon as he got home he wolfed down his food and was much happier. He must have been in pain and feeling bad, and I never knew!! He had a week of anti fungal drops to be sure ears were clear, and now Zymox drops every week to keep him clear.
So please take him to then vet and let them do the deep cleaning. I doubt your dog would tolerate you doing this, even if you were familiar with the procedure.
On the matter of the dog who fears the drops, mine does too. So I have someone hold him and hide the dropper bottle from him until I put the meds on. Then there is a technique for massaging the liquid into the ears.
