Default Baby in heat and bleeding for 4 weeks

Let me start by saying I did have an appointment to get Zoe spayed and she went in heat the week before her appt. so yes I am going to get her spayed but her vet recommended I wait due to higher risk of bleeding during surgery while in heat. So now it's been 4 weeks since she started bleeding and she is still bleeding. I called the vet and she recommends that we go ahead and spay, but now I'm uptight about the higher risk. So can I hear from some of the rest of you that have gone through heats before. Is 4 weeks of bleeding way too long. What is the risk of waiting until she gets all the way through heat? She is eating and acting normal. Maybe a little more tired than normal, but not excessively. Help I want to do whatever is best for my baby without putting her at unnecessary risk.
