Overnight is a long time to hold it for a pup. I'm a believer in keeping pups in an X-pen any time you're not directly supervising them. In the X-pen, have their bed on one side and a pee pad on the other. The theory is that they won't soil their bed but will go as far away as possible. At the very least, you're confining accidents to one area of the house.
I did that with my last pup. She now prefers to go outside, but if she's in the house for a long time with no one to let her out she'll use the pad.

If you really don't want to do that, make going out at night more fun. Offer a treat for just walking out the door. Once there, toss a toy. When they go, reward with praise and another treat. But I'd still take them out in the middle of the night.

 Good luck.
